It's possible however if they were they wouldn't be as damaging. The
Windows model means that most users effectively run as "root" (I think
it's called "administrator" isn't it?) all the time, so any infection has
root privileges and can do *anything* to your PC.
On Linux (and Mac OS too I suspect) users are running as themselves and
hence so does any infection so the damage that can be done is far more
limited.
Gosh this is all getting a bit tech for milton-chat: time we got back to
rat runners. ;-)
