I just spoke to Mick at the Park - it's nothing to do with insurance as
such - they found a group of Polish people skating on it ('We know it's
safe, we're used to this sort of thing at home'), and someone walked
right across on the ice at the North end of Todd's Pit. The Trust were
concerned at the fact that anyone not knowing the Park might not realise
they were on ice (this was after snow came down and was laying on the ice).
They have to be seen to be acting prudently and they are actually
putting into place something SCDC would probably have done if they were
still in charge.

You can't blame them for being careful - the lakes are very deep.
