Apparently the network engineers were reviewing the box in Willow
Crescent (which is a mess inside and not locked) and decided to
disconnect my broadband by inserting a 50dB attenuator. This usually
means that basic TV reception is OK but broadband, on demand and so
forth don't work (anything requiring uplink or return path). When they
do this they don't tell you, just wait for you to log a fault.
This is the second time it's happened to me. The engineer was friendly
but had no equipment for measuring noise levels, so he changed a
couple of components (isolator and splitter) just in case that might
help.
I have called 151 and expressed concern. In the meantime my broadband
is working.
Thanks
Tim
