It's a headology thing. They come down the A10 and the queue on the
bypass is visible whereas Ely Road looks clear so they go down there
because it feels quicker. That the traffic lights at the A10/A14
junction are deliberately phased to make the queue on the bypass move a
lot faster than the queue through the village doesn't impact on them
because they can never see the two side by side.
I think this will be worse when the A10/A14 roundabout is upgraded. They
plan to do away with the traffic lights at our entry onto the
roundabout, entry to the roundabout is meant to be regulated by lights
further back around the roundabout. The parish council remains unconvinced.
