That would be because you were one of the first 150 customers.
We just got back from there, looking at the HP zv6004ea laptop for ?399.
They've sold plenty and had just a few left. It's nice - 15" TFT, 4 x USB
2.0, S-Video out, 1.8GHz CPU, 256MB RAM (expandable to 512MB for ?22), 40GB
HD, LiIon battery and an impressive built in CD/DVD writer. The only obvious
thing missing is wireless, but you can add that cheaply with a PC card or
USB adapter. I think I talked the wife out of buying me one! Price goes up
to ?499 on Monday night. I believe it's a special model only available in
Staples.
They also have cheap A4 paper - ?1.49 a ream - and a half price hp printer,
although it's not such good value when you consider the cost of the ink and
the measly 7ml of ink in the colour cartridge (the black has 21ml so it's
not such bad value for printing mostly black documents).
