Re-Cycling Your Christmas Waste

As we work our way through Christmas South Cambridgeshire District Council are urging us not to forget about re-cycling. Apparently last Christmas they picked up about 5,000 tonnes of waste and recycling after the festive break and as each tonne of waste sent to landfill costs the Council £56 in taxes recycling extra waste produced this Christmas can both can protect the environment and and save us on our council tax.  read more ...

Beware Emergency Drainage Scam

Cambridgeshire County Council's Trading Standards Service is warning of an emerging drainage scam in the county which may affect you or your elderly neighbours.

The service has had reports that residents, specifically the elderly, have been called on by drainage contractors claiming to be working at a nearby property or business with blocked drains and claiming that the problems are coming from blockages in the resident's drains. The residents are then charged up to £7,000 for the repair.  read more ...

A10 speed limit - what do you think?

There is a proposal going to the County Council's cabinet to put a speed limit of 50mph on the whole of the A10 from Ely to the A14 (apart from the little bit at Stretham which will remain at 40mph).  read more ...

Cambridgeshire County Council has funding available to help local groups and organisations create activities and events that will celebrate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in the local community.
