Headley Court

Mike posted on milton-chat on Monday urging people to sign the petition on the Downing Street web site backing the SSAFA application for change of use Hedley Court. At the time I admonished him for posting about it as there was no Milton connection.

The application was decided yesterday (in favour of SSAFA) I took some time today to read the Hedley Court planning application correspondence on the Mole Valley DC web site and I confess I have to apologise to Mike: there is a Milton connection.

He's not going to like it though.

The situation there is very like what happened here in Church Lane, only here the residents happily accepted the conversion of the old vicarage into a children's hospice. I strongly suspect that if they'd known then what they know now about what would follow from that their views might be somewhat different however.

What started out as an old house converted to hospice has now grown into a large complex with many more visitors, cars coming and going day and night, and more importantly large lorries going up and down Church Lane plus the odd fire engine when the smoke detector in the kitchen goes wrong. Again.

Reading the residents objection to the change of use for Hedley Court they are predicting exactly the sort of things that have happened here. But because it's for our brave boys they're getting pilloried.

It would be interesting to go back to this story a few years from now but I do feel sorry for the local residents for whom a witch hunt is now underway.
