politics and poo

Written: 27/02/08

I've just posted to the news pages details of a press release from the County Council which suggests that the sewage works may not be moving to Honey Hill after all.

It's hard not to see this in political terms especially as the election season is starting up again in many wards in the area.

The press release manages to blame the Lib Dem city council for the original proposal for Cambridge Northern Fringe (East) which is reinventing history somewhat: I remember SCDC being fully on board too - in fact I can remember going to a meeting with their chief planner to discuss it. But SCDC is now a Tory lead council so it wouldn't do to let any blame go that way.

So they're implicitly blaming the Lib Dems for the proposal to move the works and ensuring the downwind effects continue to affect Milton, which the Tories have consistently failed to take from the grasp of independents and Lib Dems, rather than Tory villages further north east and in any case doesn't have an election this year.

Hmmmm ... and I see that The Wilbrahams, which covers all the villages north east of Honey Hill does however, and that's a Tory held ward. Now isn't that a coincidence ...
