I seem to have confused the chat software again: here's what I meant to
write!

It's OK, it'll never be built, the last paragraph of the press release
gives it away:
?Getting permission to build the busway is an important first step, but
we now need the Government to come forward with the funding they
promised for the scheme. We are doing all we can to deliver the project
as quickly as possible but we are now in the hands of the Government in
terms of how quickly they can give us the money to get on and build the
busway.? ;-)
I have really mixed feelings about this project - on the one hand I can
see the sense of a really flexible mode of public transport, on the
other, it will all stand or fall on how the buses cope with the
non-guided sections of route - it may well prove to be just a quicker
way to join a massive gridlock in central Cambridge. Perhaps now we see
another reason why Cambridge will be a trial area for congestion
charging. It seems odd that elsewhere in the UK light rail/tram is the
way to go, which seems to work really well, but here we are to have the
longest guided busway *in the world*. So we will be the envy of the
world. Perhaps.
On another, not entirely unrelated, and more Milton-centric matter - did
I see somewhere that Stagecoach Citi route 2 is being extended to Milton
in the New Year? Does anyone know what route it will take? If this is
true, it might make a good alternative to the Park and Ride for locals.
Happy travels!
David.
