I don't think I can remember the last time our Virgin Media "service"
actually worked in its entirety. Certainly not since at least
November. I've complained, shouted at the Indian subcontinent (which
is a bit unfair, because I don't actually think it's their fault,
directly). They eventually replaced our cable modem after more than 2
hours on the phone trying to convince them that I know what I'm
talking about, and that really it was their crappy little box that was
broken. They did at least reduce our tariff in compensation.
No sooner had they done that, than the TV went as well. After more
shouting, and long phone calls where they tried to convince me I
didn't have a problem, they eventually replaced my set top box with a
new one. Within a week, that started playing up as well, and still
hasn't been fixed. If I forcibly reset the box it will work for a
bit, but I have to do that at least once every day.
It's only lethargy and inertia, and a vague suspicion that the
alternatives will be no better, that's stopping me from switching to
Sky and ADSL.
