If I remember correctly, the council tax is made up of demands from
several agencies - thedistrict council, the county council, the parish
council, the police authority and the fire authority. Therefore SCDC
can only speak for their portion of it. What SCDC do say about their
portion is quite correct as I understand it.
A question that could be asked is not why are SCDC putting up the tax
so much now, but why didn't they put it up gradually over the years?
To save the electorate money. They are, of course, a Conservative
coucnil. I don't think this is the perception that is going to stick
though.
