Went to Tesco last night and since Fen Road is like an icerink, didn't
take the car even though heavy shopping was planned, but walked and
wheeled my bike to use as a shopping trolley. Crossed into Tesco via the
Zebra crossing by Winship Road and proceeded via the laid out route to the
shop.
Was somewhat annoyed to have to slalom my bike on the very slippery
pavement around several large signs blocking the pavement advertising TVs
on offer to car drivers. They clearly weren't there for the convenience
of pedestrians and had I had either a twin buggy or a wheelchair I'd have
had to use the road. I did complain at Customer Services, but the person
I complained to looked pretty blank and the signs were still there when I
finished shopping. They've also done some roadway snow clearance but
nothing on that bit of pavement.
If anyone else goes up there today and notices that the "island pavement"
looks rather obstructed and fancies having a go at them in the interests
of pedestrians' and disabled rights (or fancies having an accident and
suing them as the problem has already been reported), maybe you'll have
more luck.
Or maybe the manager of Tesco lurks on Milton Chat and sees this and will
fix the problem!
