As part of an integrated audio-tv system you can use Freeview for radio, I
agree.
But as a substitute for a standalone (mains driven) kitchen radio it
doesn't really work. (I've tried playing the tv loud to hear it in another
room: a separate unit is better)
There are more stations on DAB and they're stereo too (though it depends
on content, talk shows eg may be mono to save bandwidth)
I wanted to point out that unlike Freeview where here in Milton we do need
new aerials to receive it, DAB works perfectly with just the built in
antenna. And now they are down to 50 quid, it seems there is no point in
buying a similarly priced RDS FM one.
