‘People need parks’ the government secretary said last week. It is great to hear parks being recognised as a vital public service for health and well-being. Unfortunately we are amongst the 5% of parks which are not local authority funded. As a charity with no regular external income there has been no financial support for us. The revenue made from activities events and bookings April-September are what keeps Milton Country Park open all year round. All of this income is now lost, yet we remain open. We are talking to our councillors and looking at funding but it will be very difficult to find the funds needed to provide the park as we have been for the last twelve years.
