College of West Anglia ‘Lateral Flow Testing’ Positions Available

Update: CWA Looking for People to Help with Organisation of Lateral Flow Testing

The College of West Anglia (CWA) are looking for paid casual employees to fulfil a variety of different administrative and logistical positions to help with lateral flow testing on-site at the Cambridge campus.

As part of the response to making teaching safer, CWA are now administering lateral flow tests to students and staff. The CWA lateral test programme has been in effect for one month and they are currently testing students of keyworkers and vulnerable students and staff, but plan to rollout the programme to the wider student and staff body upon their eventual return to on-site teaching.

“The College’s COVID-safe approach to working has been extremely successful to date and we will be providing all volunteers with the appropriate training and personal protective equipment, in-line with Government guidelines and measures, before starting their respective positions.”

CWA have a variety of administrative and logistical positions to fill in order conduct testing. All employees will be paid an hourly rate in-line with the National Minimum Wage.

It is important to note that no employee will be required to be directly involved in the swabbing aspect of the testing process. This is the sole responsibility of the person who is being tested.

The available job roles are:

 

QUALITY LEAD/TEAM LEADER

Responsible for the overall on-site operations at the test site, including day day-to-day workforce management. Ensure quality assurance, incidents, risks mitigation across the testing service.

COVID-19 CO-ORDINATOR

Signs off and schedules testing activities; ensuring communications and consents are actioned; management of positive cases as per school and college guidelines.

REGISTRATION ASSISTANT

Responsible for ensuring subjects have registered and distributing test kits on arrival. Ensures orderly entry of subjects onto the testing site.

TEST ASSISTANTS

Provides guidance and supervision to subjects on swabbing as requested. Collects completed swabs and pass them to the Processor. Ensures cleaning of swabbing bays.

PROCESSOR

Prepares test sample for analysis, conducts processing of LFD and interprets result. Provides results to Results Recorder. Ensures cleaning of processing bays.

Prospective candidates would be required to start from 8am in the morning to enable CWA to organise testing before classes begin. Experience in working in a similar environment or holding a first aid qualification is desirable but not essential. All volunteers will need to have a Disclosure and Barring check undertaken before they start to ensure their suitability to be on-site with children. All reasonable travel costs will be paid by CWA.

All employees will be eligible for two rapid lateral flow tests per week, receiving their test results within around a thirty-minute period upon completion of the test.
