Book now for Parklife

The countdown to South Cambridgeshire’s biggest free family fun day has begun with water sport advance booking opening this Monday (22/6).

Anyone keen to take to the water and try their hand at canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding at the event at Milton Country Park on Sunday, 19th July is being urged to contact South Cambridgeshire District Council from 11am on Monday.

Activities at the event, which range from climbing, archery and fishing to den building, mega bikes and rugby, are all free of charge and you simply turn up and take your turn.

Following feedback from previous events, which have attracted crowds of over 5,000 each year, half of the water sport slots have been made available for advance pre-booking with a small administration charge being taken to guarantee the spot.

Parklife is organised by South Cambridgeshire District Council in partnership with Cambridge Sport Lakes Trust with fun and free activities for all the family. It starts at 10am with activities through until 6pm.

The cycling zone at Parklife is sponsored by Ben Hayward Cycles with support for the event also being given by Milton Tesco.

To pre-book canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding slots call Helen Stepney on 01954 713362. Advance bookings close on Monday, 13th July.

There will also be food and drink on sale, live music and a wide variety of dance groups performing to keep families entertained and an artist in residence to help children get creative with crafting.

Cllr Mick Martin, South Cambridgeshire District Council’s cabinet member responsible for sport, said:

Parklife is a fantastic fun fuelled day with thousands of people getting a taster for many sports and activities. This year looks set to be bigger and better than ever and we hope the advance booking slots for some of the most popular activities makes it easier for people to plan in advance. There really is something for everyone. Put the date in your diary now as it is one not to be missed.
