Cuts to Mobile Library Service

The County Council has announced that it’s cutting back on its Mobile Library service from October. In a letter (Adobe/PDF, 97KB) to your parish council they explain the reason for the cuts and the accompanying spreadsheet (MS/Excel, 188KB) has the proposed new schedule.

For Milton it means we go from the current weekly visit (Friday one week at three locations, Saturday the other week at two locations) to a bi-monthly schedule visiting two locations each time. So we will be seeing a 54% cut in days and a 20% cut in locations. In addition we are switching from Saturday to Monday for one of the visits so there will be no Mobile Library visits outside normal office hours.

In summary the new schedule from October will be:

3rd Monday Milton Post Office, Coles Road 14:25-15:25
3rd Monday Milton Community Centre 15:30-16:30
1st Friday Milton Post Office, Coles Road 09:45-10:45
1st Friday The Rowans 10:50-11:50

Comments on the times and locations can be sent to Ally Clarke, Mobile Libraries Manager, Ascham Site, Ascham Road, Cambridge CB4 2BD, emailed to ally.clarke@cambridgeshire.gov.uk or telephone 718356 however if you want to comment on the cuts themselves you need to contact your county councillor, Michael Williamson, and you can find contact details on his web site.
