Tuesday’s bin collection will be blue and green bins, the first blue bin collection for three weeks and the first green bin collection for five!
South Cambridgeshire District Council‘s stated policy is that they will not take away excess green waste, they expect you to compost it, take it to your nearest recycling centre (so Butt Lane in our case), or burn it(!) (Although we would point out there is nothing to stop you putting it in your black bin) however for excess blue waste they are considerably more laid back. They posted this on Twitter this week:
Too much recycling to fit in your blue bin? Leave it next to your bin in a cardboard box/returnable container and we'll always collect it

Note the “always”: that’s worth remembering all year around, not just over these odd times.
